Fueling Food Entrepreneurs for the Long Run

The Bread Project’s Food Entrepreneurs’ Business Incubator supports 4-6 early-stage food businesses each year with the resources and guidance they need to grow, scale, and succeed. Through training, mentorship, and hands-on support, we help turn culinary passion into sustainable, thriving businesses.

How the Incubator Works

Our year-round program provides participating food entrepreneurs with:

  • Commercial Kitchen Access — Use our certified kitchen beyond the hours of our training program (4 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. Monday–Friday, and weekends).
  • Food Safety & Production Guidance — Hands-on training in food handling, recipe scaling, production planning.
  • Business Mentorship — Support from our Executive Director and Chef Instructor to navigate operations, purchasing, cost control, and hiring.
  • Talent Connections — Access to our graduate talent pool to help fill staffing needs.

Launched in 2018, the Entrepreneurs’ Program has become a cornerstone program at The Bread Project—fueling a cycle of community-based business growth. Many ventures that graduate from the Program hire alumni from our Training Program, helping sustain a vibrant local food ecosystem.

Why it Matters

The Incubator is more than kitchen access—it’s a launchpad. We equip food entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to build sustainable businesses while creating jobs and strengthening our community.
